Glad Loki’s finally gonna be let free soon. He’s the most hyped character of this whole arc and he hasn’t been able to do anything besides start a fire till now

@theemperor95: I said they most likely learned it there. We know the crew disbanded after Roger found the one piece so it's the only time that fits based off what we currently know

(Updated) Holy Knights abilities so far:

Gunko

No Caption Provided

The core aspect of Gunko’s attacks are arrows that have a determined course, they are her confirmed path of the future her attacks will take and it is only possible for her to change it, effectively qualifying as a fate manipulation hax. You cannot escape it as they will simply follow you. Upon essentially marking you with these arrows that will follow you, she can use them offensively to:

Essentially, Gunko’s powers incorporate both fate manipulation due to her attack following a determined path created by her arrows and vector manipulation as she controls the direction her arrow marks, so redirecting attacks.

Killingham

No Caption Provided

Killingham has a Mythical-Zoan and he utilizes imagination for his powers. Simply, ideation is all that’s necessary for Killingham to utilize his powers such as when he bought the imagination from the kids of Elbaf as super giant creatures easily bigger than your average mountain in One Piece to life. Killingham quite literally brings imagination to reality. He puts people to sleep and utilizes what they’ve imagined, straight digging into their thoughts and forcefully pulling it out once manifested, doing so to people as competent as Sommers.

Nightmares

The Nightmares manifested by Killingham have no concept of death, due to them being abstract, which Killingham says once again. The Nightmares are made of pure malice:

No Caption Provided

And he can revive them at any given moment, as well as being able to spawn more through Nightmare portals that manifested from the kids hearing “demons” and imagining them.

Essentially, Killingham’s has reality-warping shenanigans, being able to manifest thoughts into reality and Sleep Manipulation, being able to use his powers without even directly being remotely in the vicinity mind you.

Sommers

No Caption Provided

Sommers uses thorns and he can make them invisible to competent Haki users like Saul. Whatever it’s wrapped around, touching it will result in the thorns inflicting damage.

Essentially a guy who just manipulates thorns with certain twists to it.

Shamrock

No Caption Provided

Shamrock can summon a Cerberus that forms from Shamrock’s blade and also make blades themselves from their mouth, three heads which can separate from the body and fly in the air as well as target the opponent.

Immortality

All of the Holy Knight’s possess immortality, this means being able to come back even when being blown up, even into bits. Luffy notes crushing or ripping them up does absolutely nothing and he tried everything he could do, failing. Stopping their regeneration isn’t killing them either as Gaban cut up Sommers who had his regeneration negated and still did not die. Being highlighted as Immortals (read as it explains the difference in japanese kanji used to describe immortality) completely puts them in a class above other regenerative-based abilities in the series, for example Marco who many times is stated to resurrect from literal death, being able to lose massive portions of his body, riddled with holes and bounce back instantly as if it never happened.

This is sort of old news but I only just recently noticed something. I want to share it in case other people also somehow managed to gloss over this the same way I did.

Many people have already pointed out that "Domi Reversi" seems to draw inspiration from the game Reversi. In said game, once a piece is caught in-between two opposing pieces, it flips over and changes to the opposing team. We see this illustrated in Chapter 1151.

No Caption Provided

However, outside of the name and this illustration, I didn't see much parallels with it yet. But upon revisiting Chapter 1150, I picked up something that seems so clear now that I can't believe I skimmed over it the first time. Again, a piece will be flipped over and join the opposing side once caught in-between two opposing pieces. I didn't catch that we actually see this happening with the technique itself in 1150.

No Caption Provided

Three Giants standing in-between Dorry and Brogy get flipped and turned into demons, seemingly without Imunko's direct input (a Giant literally questions if it was because they were standing in-between them so I don't even know how I missed this the first time).

So it seems to be that Imunko doesn't have to manually turn everyone into demons, they just need two. Once someone is surrounded, it's pretty much a done deal given that the Giant in the first scan claimed to be stuck in place.

@twothousand3702: Funnily enough, I was going to write up on how Imu’s ability seemed like to work like a board-game, but I figured I’d wait until next chapter just to see if anything adds to it, but yeah, I think it’s a literal thing. Imu probably legitimately turned it into a game and imposes rules similar to the game it basis itself on, which makes what Killingham said about “The playing board is entirely in our color” consistent with what we see and what happens.

@pics: Yeah that's interesting. I saw a theory that Luffy and Loki as the two 'Sun Gods' would have to replicate the process in order to reverse the transformations. I'm unsure whether or not this is simply because they would naturally counter Imu's abilities or because Imu's "games" do actually have a set of rules to follow and as such, possible counters to each ability.

One Piece Chapter 1152 "A Terrible Day" Summary from Redon

  • Gaban tells Luffy to "pay attention to how you use Conqueror's Haki" and that their enemies are not truly immortal. He then looks towards Zoro and Sanji and says "It seems that more than one person here has Conqueror's Haki".
  • Sanji approaches Gaban, believing that he is the one being referred to. However, Gaban ignores him, saying "Swordsman over there! Looks like your body is used to it."
  • Zoro confusedly asks if he truly has Conqueror's Haki and Luffy tells him that he's surprised he didn't already know since it's been leaking for a while.
  • Gaban tells them that Haki is only useful if one can recognize and control it. He then asks if he truly intends to support his captain, who is an Emperor, when his Haki mastery isn't up to par.
  • Sanji tries to ask if he too has Conqueror's Haki but is interrupted by Loki and Hajrudin's argument. Loki is criticizing Hajrudin for allowing outsiders to defend their homeland but not him, calling Hajrudin disgraceful. Hajrudin responds by saying that there's a chance Loki chooses to help the invaders, and that he can't be trusted since the day he murdered Harald.
  • Luffy suddenly asks Loki to become his crewmate, figuring that Hajrudin will have to release him if that's the case. Zoro and Sanji tell Luffy that's not a good idea due to his size and Hajrudin considers the fact that Luffy believes Loki can be trusted, but still refuses. Loki also declines, saying that he won't follow anybody.
  • Zoro and Sanji depart to the Sun Realm with Gerd and Goldberg, leaving Loki, Luffy, Gaban, and Hajrudin. Gaban reveals that both he and Shanks were present on the day of Harald's murder but didn't witness the whole thing. Hajrudin asks Loki to tell him the truth and Loki finally agrees to, saying "It was one really terrible day."
  • 14 years ago, Loki and Jarul were called to the castle. Loki looked to be quite friendly towards Jarul. He tells him that he hates the World Government because they killed Rocks, so he wanted to have a talk with his father.
  • When they arrived to the entrance, Loki kicked a soldier into the door to open it. Upon entering the throne room, they were shocked to discover Harald being stabbed by several of his soldiers. Harald is silhouetted, but appears to have had horns and wings.
  • Meanwhile, we see Gaban and Shanks having a bath outside Gaban's house. Only half of Gaban's hair was gray at the time and he had a black braided goatee and a mustache. We discover that Shanks had a tattoo on his left arm. We don't get a close look at it, but it does appear to be somewhat similar to the tattoo that Sommers has.
  • Gaban and Shanks reflect on the past. Gaban remarks on how long it's been since they relaxed like this, thinking it must've been about three or four years. Shanks corrects him, saying it's been about a decade since the Roger Pirates disbanded. Shanks then expresses that he wished he could just live a jolly life as a pirate with Buggy and how there are so many things he wants to know about Elbaph. Gaban replies by saying that Shanks is the "Child of Destiny" and says that he doesn't want to talk about such complicated things today. The duo then continue to talk about past adventures, like meeting Dorry and Brogy on Little Garden when Ripley appears and greets Shanks. Shanks finally explains his reasoning for coming to Elbaph, saying that he wanted to talk to King Harald about something.
  • At the same time, we see a mysterious silhouette in the treasure room of the castle where the "Legendary Devil Fruit" is being held. It is then, that ANOTHER flashback starts, this one taking place 109 years ago.
  • Narrator: Going back even further in time...109 years ago, in a time where if you asked anyone who sailed the seas what they feared the most in this world, everyone would say "The Giant Warrior Pirates".
  • We see the Great Eirik chasing a ship on the sea with a very young Dorry, Brogy, Oimo, and Kashii. We also see another giant ship that's docked at a human kingdom.
  • Narrator: At the same time, an official ship coming from the "Kingdom of Giants" acts as another reason as to why the name Elbaph is associated with absolute terror.
  • We see a young Harald, who remarks that he heard there's a beautiful princess inside the castle as the townspeople run in fear. One of the Giant soldiers that's accompanying Harald looks through a castle window, but Harald knocked him into it, destroying it. He smugly claims that he accidentally slipped and we get our first good look at him. He looks similarly to Loki, but had short, spiked hair instead of longer hair.
  • He laughed and asked "Who's your god now?" to the townspeople, as the Narrator formally introduces us.
  • Narrator:King Harald of Elbaph, who ascended to the throne at the young age of 45 (15 in human years)...was a real jerk.

End of Chapter. NO Break Next Week.

So the theories about time being dilated on Elbaph might be true after all. Gaban thought only a few years had passed but it'd already been a decade.

Yeah. A lot to dissect here.

This strengthens the argument that time moves slower in Elbaph..

I wonder why Gaban looks so old then. Rayleigh looks like he aged better imo.

Must be that giant pootang. Like mowing lawn every single day.

Sanji's taken a bigger L than Drake. What a glorious time to be a Zoro fanboy. I wouldn't fret over Sanji not having CoC. His power progression going forward is h getting more stat boosts + advanced CoA and CoO, so there's nothing to be worried about for his fans. What's more, he could learn ACoA infused + Ilfrit Rankyaku to have ranged options.

One Piece Chapter 1153 "The Birth of Loki" Full Summary by Pew

  • Chapter starts with a flashback of Harald's childhood growing up with Dorry and Brogy. Because he was born so much bigger and stronger than the others, he was very spoiled.
  • One day, Harald came across a female giant named Ida who was captured and being paraded as a circus freak in a human town. He destroyed the town and released her. Ida had freckles on her face and thick lips, as well as a ponytail.
  • Ida asks who he is and he replies that he's the King of Elbaph and that there's no need to thank him, but Ida suddenly slaps him in the face, shocking him.
  • She reveals that she was in fact, not captured, but was rescued by the humans of that town when she was shipwrecked and willingly joined their circus to repay them. Ida taught Harald that being born stronger than others didn't make him better than them. It is because of Ida that Harald changed his viewpoints on life and began to take interest in other cultures.
  • Harald brought Ida back to Elbaph and wanted to marry her but the Giant elders Ford it because she wasn't from Elbaph. Because of this, Ida lived in a village in Elbaph rather than Aurust Castle. Harald became a more kind and caring king and began diplomacy with several other nations, such as the Ryugu Kingdom of Fish-Man Island.
  • Some years later, Ida gave birth to Hajrudin, but Harald was forced into an arranged marriage with a Giant named Estrida, the daughter of a Giant of high social status.
  • Estrida: "I was born in the Alcohol Village in the northern lands, and I have been studying Di Feng. I have seen that I'm destined to be loved and cherished by your majesty! Please forget about that girl and her child from the East."
  • Harald, naturally, couldn't exactly do that. Estrida was a beautiful Giant dressed in a dancer outfit (similar to Nami and Vivi's outfits in Alabasta). She was obsessed with Di Feng (seems to be the One Piece equivalent to Feng Shui) so she ordered windows to be closed and opened in a certain way and shifted around the furniture in the castle.
  • Some years later, Estrida gave birth to Loki. Harald was overseas at the time. Loki's eyes were described as "demonic", (think of Sauron from Lord of the Rings). Estrida panicked and threw Loki down to the Underworld, and then told her servants to tell Harald upon his return that Loki died during the childbirth process.
  • Down in the Underworld, baby Loki was crying while trying to climb up Yggdrasil. He is very injured from having fought off some of the beasts that roam Elbaph's bottom realm.
  • The chapter ends with Estrida in the castle, Harald traveling the sea, and Ida and Hajrudin in their home village while the narrator speaks.
  • Narrator: [From Queen Estrida falling into sickness...]
  • Estrida is shown telling her servants that Loki must be removed from the world, because prophecy foretells him killing Harald one day.
  • Narrator: [To Harald being troubled by the wall that exists between countries]
  • Harald is shown frustrated that the World Government keeps getting in his way.
  • Ida is shown talking to Hajrudin about meeting Loki. She thinks it'll be nice but Hajrudin doesn't claim him as a brother.
  • Narrator: [Every disaster that befalls Elbaph from these moments forward is now credited as part of "Loki's Curse."

End of Chapter. Break Next Week.

@mortein: Why are you assuming it’s a literal serpent and not just a metaphorical description by these Viking/norse-based dudes?
