Poll Does the new Superman movie have one of the most promising CBM castings in recent memory? (13 votes)

Yes 46%
No 54%

This is a definite yes for me. Even from the trailers, I can sense that Clark, Lois and Luthor are all very well cast.

Well, Superman is usually depicted as a fully fledged adult, right? This one is more of a late teenager/young adult similar to Peter Parker depictions. But if anything that's a positive since most of the viewers like me are in that age group anyway. The recent animated adaptation did the same iirc, still need to finish that show.

@gaoron: Superman in his prime is depicted to be in his 30s, but Clark became Superman when he was 25.

He’s 25 in this, which is the age he’s typically been in the origin story

I’m very excited for the casting all around. I can’t think of one pick that I even slightly dislike.

@ghostodoofus2:

So apparently Superman is actually 30 in this film and in his year 3.

@ghostodoofus2: @crunch5481: @returnkaboom232:

This is the most interesting quote so far for me

Basically, previous iterations framed Superman as existing in an ordinary world: the Christopher Reeve films, Zack Snyder and even Superman and Lois TV show framed Superman as ''an extrodinary figure in an ordinary world'' (as Christopehr Nolan described the Donner films)

E.g. Metropolis in Superman The Movie is literally just New York City. We even see the statue of liberty. Snyder's version tried to go a bit further with the ultra realism of ''what if Superman existed in our world'' and Superman & Lois with Tyler Hoechlin frames Superman as being the only superpowered hero on Earth. And that show aimed for a more grounded feel

Whereas this version, the world Superman lives in is very wacky like a comicbook world. Feels like it's straight out of the silver age, but with a modern twist. Metahumans have been around for long time, there's many heroes already existing, giant monsters etc

So I think this version is basically the closest to Smallville Superman rather than any other LA version: because Smallville Superman was described as being adjacent to Silver Age Superman in the show. But he had a more grounded and relatable feel to him

@frozen: Yeah Gunn said heroes/metahumans have been around for 300 years

I like this vibe more rather than the grounded one (even tho Snyder was going in a different direction later on with the whole Greek gods = Kryptonians bs) as the groundwork is already laid out for them

Yeah it's clear that Snyder was making it up as he went along

Also, this new clip is brief but it gives a glimpse into the supporting cast. This has major Smallville season 10/11 vibes to me

I wouldn't say that the cast itself is that promising but rather the whole product and production of the movie itself. It feels fresh, it feels important, it feels like a movie that you should be excited about, so the movie itself is promising indeed, but I can't really say that it's because of the cast.

Yes. Am hyped up by Isabella Merced. Is finally going to have her big screen moment here. Exceptionally talented actress. Can't wait to see her Hawkgirl character on screen.

Although not truly feeling guy green lantern actor, he looks way older than how I remember guy.
