Humans, meta or mutant all of them are creatures, creatures of habit. Watching for these eons through my shadows, they've shown me very little in that time to surprise or even give proof they've achieved anything worth while.

But then came the mutant and meta explosion. This explosion allowed for more unique creatures. No longer even human to most, that's when they became interesting. So a few hundred years and these higher species have nearly covered the planet full with these extra chromosomal creatures.

Some theorized that the abundance of “light” and it's near constant exposure to those on earth have allowed for the increase and continued climb of the homo superior.

All I've learned is they've never witnessed pure darkness.

I find myself in a fairly pricy and well established restaurant. I was told by one of my darklings that someone of merit visits this establishment on a fairly frequent basis. I need not wait long and he walks through the door. The temperature changes instantly and I watch as people turn their heads away from him and slide on jackets.

I can tell without even scanning him that his abilities are temperature control, perhaps strictly one the freezing side of abilities. My own body reacts and the darkness that oozes and covers my body triples in defence of the quick drop in temperature.

I stand leaving my food untouched and I make my way to the table he sits at, a darkling steps from my shadow and in it's gravel sounding speech mentions a name. I nod at it then shoo it away, sitting and introducing myself.

Can I call you CK, code names seem insufficient at this point in conversation. My name is Zon and I'll cut to the chase. I need someone who will sit beside me as I plunge this rock of a planet into darkness. But in the process I plan on making you ridiculously rich…look at your bank account.” Thanks to the first place I visited nd without trouble took control of, the Hellfire Club Black King role ass allowed for a nearly endless support fiscally. Not that I need it but most of these creatures enjoy money.

I slide a HFC card and my own phone, showing a transfer of ten million into his account. “My soldiers found you and researched you long enough to find your money or lack there of.” I say no other words and wait for his…hopefully

he's intelligent.

Charles liked to sit alone. He came in alone, he eats alone and he leaves alone. When eating at one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, why waist your time talking. Another reason was simply, people were afraid of him. When dining even the waiters were afraid to engage him in conversation and when they did it was always short and with respect. And they always made damn sure his glass of wine was never empty. So with a silver fork in one hand and a silver knife in the other he chomped down on a eight hundred dollar steak while the rest of the restaurant remained silent. But on this rarest occasion, another well dressed patron, got up from his seat, walked across the room and sat down with him… and dared to engage him in conversation.

The rest gasped in silence as the stranger sat down, as a waiter dropped a plate. In fear for their lives a small group of people even left in a hurry. But at the moment the stranger sat down, Charles immediately warned him, “Your either very foolish interrupting my meal or you have a death wish. Either way you are not worth my time, so I will give you until I finish my drink to leave, before I freeze your lungs and let you die!” But to his surprise the stranger was not shocked at all and even engaged CK as if he were holding the better hand. “Can I call you CK?” the stranger said while seeming cool and confident, “code names seem insufficient at this point in conversation. My name is Zon and I'll cut to the chase. I need someone who will sit beside me as I plunge this rock of a planet into darkness.”

Interested, Charles stop short of finishing his drink and places what’s left on the table, as what passes for a smile crosses his face. “Please, go on!” he says, while leaning back and straightening his tie, “what is in it for me?” It was then Zon played his whole card, and to CK’s surprise, he said, in the process I plan on making you ridiculously rich…look at your bank account.” Now intrigued, Charles pulls his phone out from his breast pocket, while still being arrogant enough to say, “You better not be wasting my time, or you won’t live long enough to regret it!” It was then Zon played the ace in his hand, by sliding his own phone across the table and at the same time an official Hellfire Club card, that immediately gained CK’s interest.

Picking up the phone first he compared the transaction to his bank account on both phones and noticed an increase of ten million dollars, at which point Zon boasted, “in the process I plan on making you ridiculously rich…look at your bank account.” Normally a man at this point would smirk or appear impressed, but all Charles said was, “You Sir” with respect, “now have my interest.” But before he goes on he picks up the Hellfire Club membership card and twirls the card in his hand, looking at it closely to make sure it was legit and not a fraud, then almost smiles. “But it is this,” he taps the card against the table, “that will guarantee my allegiance!” He then tosses the card back to Zon and explains.

If the rumors of the Hellfire club are true, then the pitiful ten million you offered me is a mere drop in the bucket to what we can acquire.” Then to Zon’s surprise, Charles goes on to say, “For now you may call me Chuck, a privilege I let few obtain, and I would gratefully be willing to be your partner.” He then sits upright again and leans in a few inches closer to obtain an appearance of dominance, and goes on, “I do not know what skills you bring to the table but know this. I am your partner. Not your employee or your henchman! We split things equally or you will see first hand what I can do!” With that said he finishes his drink and pushes away what was left of his plate, tosses down a few grand in hundred dollar bills to pay the bill and prepares to leave. But before standing up to exit he asks his partner one last question, andwhat shall I callyou? Zon or the Red King?”
