I think this may have been done several months ago, but PS3 has a lot more games out and isn't as new.

I own an XBOX360 and I am trying to decide if I should buy a PS3. I have not been happy with my XBOX because it locks up a lot and College Football (my favorite perennial game) doesn't have anywhere near the features that even the PS2 had. Anyone who has both 360 and ps3 or who has played both extensively please tell me what you think. Should I buy the PS3???

Not that this helps to the topic but...

I have played a PS3 and it was great, i'm now getting one form my upcoming Birthday.

And i have never played a Xbox 360, although i really want to. So, i can't really judge what is better between the both, but i would recommend buying a Playstation 3, they are really cool.

I'm actually torn between which to get......soon I'll be working, and I want to buy one of them, but I don't know which! I mean, 360 has Halo 3, Mass Effect, etc., but PS3 has Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous.....it's too hard to choose.

i was playing xbox 360 yesterday and it was very fun. Guitar Hero III, DEVIL MAY CRY 4, Kane & Lynch, Gears of War and I must say it was very VERY entertaining.

However having seen the previews for GTA IV on PS3 I just cant go past the fact of life that I am going to buy it. GTA IV i saw will be $149 Australian Dollars when it is released... which sucks but is soo worth it! CANNOT WAIT! and for cricket game on wii

I predict another PS3 price drop this year, they just created a smaller and cheaper blue ray laser and also they're starting to build PS3s with a smaller cell processor which will also help the price, so I'd hold up on it. Maybe they won't do a price drop to get some profit, but I believe Sony is finally turning a profit already, so a price drop isn't that far fetched. Also another reason I'd recommend to wait till later this year is when they start releasing the PS3s with the 40nm cell processor, it's going to help the cooling A LOT.

Anyways as for the game, are you playing NCAA Football? If so, the PS3 version runs it at 30 frames per second, whereas on the 360 it runs on 60 FPS, meaning it's a lot smoother on the 360 then the PS3, I've tried it and the 360 is a lot smoother. The same goes for Madden.

My problem with the XBOX360 version of NCAA is that you cannot even do formation subs!! I love setting up my team and moving players around based on formations, the PS2 has had this feature for years and the 360 doesn't! I also really hate the 360's menu interface for NCAA. I really appreciate your post because I have been "feeling" a price drop coming as well (Target is already offering a $40 in store gift card for the 40gb PS3). I think I will wait it out.

@eagle20fox3:

Man, Xbox 360 really had some of the best games! Gears of War was legendary, and Guitar Hero III was a must-play at every gathering. But yeah, GTA IV on PS3 was a game-changer—I still remember how hyped everyone was for it.

Speaking of cricket games, I’ve always wished for a proper next-gen cricket experience like they do with FIFA and NBA. If you’re into cricket games, you should check out Cricket League MOD APK—it’s a fun mobile alternative with unlimited coins and all players unlocked. I’ve been hooked on it lately! Have you tried any cricket games on newer consoles?

PS3 was sooo much better than Xbox 360. 360 had the red ring of death issues. And even Mass Effect 2 originally being an Xbox360 had to be split into 2 separate discs on 360. The PS3 only used 1 disc, and so much faster than 360.

360 stomps. Better online, better interface, mostly better/less broken ports, Xbox Live Arcade, Halo, Gears of War, etc.

Both were good but 360 was just something special.

I still love the PS3 for introducing me to games like Life Is Strange. It was when my love for those types of Tell Tale games began.

I had a 360 and I loved it. The Xbox Live Arcade, Gears of War, Halo, Fable, Deadrising, Saints Row, Too Human just to name a few games. Life is Strange was an awesome game as well, including the TellTale games but those were on 360 as well as PS3.

Were they? I didn't know that.

Still, PS3 was also the first console that introduced me to many of Fumito Ueda's games, such as ICO and The Last Guardian(And yea, I know that ICO was available way back in the PS2 era, but unlike SoTC, I only played in the PS3).

Sure were! I'm still waiting for Wolf Among Us 2 to come out :')

But tbh I didn't know they were on PS3 myself for the longest time.

Definitely the 360, thankfully the RROD didn't happen to me til well after that console war was over. MK9, Burnout 3, Halo 2, COD 2, Split Second, Gears etc Though I also played the hell out of my Wii as well during that time. Mario Deluxe and Wii Sports were the sh#t. Epically fun games.

console:

Xbox360 console and what it could do definitely beats the ps3. It had multifaceted features such as party chat (play different games and still talk to friends in a group chat, ps3 didn’t have this feature) Download games and didn’t have the “installing process” after like with the ps3, Microsoft points from earning achievements to which you can buy games with, Change your ID. Listening to music while playing games and a few more I believe.

winner: Xbox

though I believe graphics and performance may go to ps3

Games

Its a 50/50.

Xbox: Fable, Gears of war, left for dead, halo etc

Ps3. God of war, tlof, uncharted. Etc

I might have to side with the xbox maybe a tad bit.

Winner xbox, very very slightly

Online:

I believe Ps3 worked better for how well it runs smoothly i think. That and it was free

winner ps3

Home setting:

As far as organization and quality. Ps3 homepage by far. I would even think a 5 year old would know how to navigate it on his first try, Xbox had me puzzled for a couple of days to get used to.

winner ps3 although this is least of concerns,

For me it’s Ps3 but that’s only because i grew up with the ps2. Even though most of my friends had xbox. If ps3 at least could’ve had group chat. It would be ps3 no question

Oh yeah I forgot for online options the 360 was simply better, more options, smoother gameplay and the Netflix(before they took it off) theatre option was great you could watch shows and movies with friends online that was amazing.

Damn, those were good times. You can easily argue for that generation of consoles to be the golden age of video games.

I always see vids saying how the 80's-mid to late 90's the first few generations of consoles but everyone has their own view on that I see on YT which I kind of agree with. I always felt that early 2000's-mid 2000's to 2012 ish Silver Age and past 10 years or so the modern age. But either way it was definitely during a great time of games and time for when online options took a big turn for sure during the 360, Wii and PS3 era for sure.

Since I had both at one point, I prefer the PS3 by a mile due to longevity alone. I went through 3 Xbox 360s because 2 of them had the red ring of death.

Yeah the RROD was the bane of the 360, though when working had amazing online features which really was it's strong suit. I wanted a PS3 but their price was outrageous imo.

PS3 was objectively the more powerful piece of hardware, and tended to have better games. I however grew up with an Xbox 360. It's also worth noting that the PS3 was difficult to develop for, so several games were made for the Xbox 360 first, and then ported over to the PS3, which could make the PS3 version, ironically, the worse one.

Games were subjective honestly, PS3 had some solid games but not as many as PSX or PS2. The 360 had a lot of bangers Gears, Halo, Burnout series, COD etc, etc among others that were amazing games. Both were pretty powerful but Xbox by far had the better online options and component not even comparable here, the thing that did Xbox in was the RROD being the bane of it's existence. You also had the case as is always with Sony every few years they get hacked and their servers are down for days....
