That would be a bloodbath. Cortez's intelligence and knowledge of policy or wealth distribution or anything of that sort is unimpressive.

She is only relevant because she was a young, attractive, female hispanic candidate that won in a primarily hispanic district. If she would have ran against a black candidate in a black district or an Indian candidate in an Indian district, she wouldn't have won anything.

Say what you want about Ben Shapiro, but damn does he know how to debate. Seriously, this would be like Tiger Woods playing against some guy who golfs on the weekends.

Anyone who says Cortez either is uneducated on this topic, or are blind by leftism. Shapiro would annihilate her, and that’s why she denied the debate

@xzone: I misspoke, it was actually a video of him saying the bigger threat between white supremacy and “instituionalized left-wing anti-semitism” was the latter. But it was about two and a half weeks after the shooting.

For the record, all forms of anti-semitism are wrong. They’re both evil. But Jesus Christ, I hate that we live in a world where people getting murdered isn’t worse than political stances.

Again, I don’t recall Ben saying that, and I didn’t say I agreed with the opinion, I said I was undecided, mainly because I haven’t seen the statement in question. If you could post a link to the video that would help out.

Well, I have never heard of Ben Shapiro until this thread. I watched that little video of him that Jagernutt posted, and I still can't say I know anything about him. All that video focused on was him debating exactly one point, a point that wasn't really all that strong to begin with. So, maybe he's a good debater? I imagine if he has his fans, there are probably better videos out there that show his prowess, but that particular one didn't seem any more impressive than a grown man beating a kindergartener at arm wrestling.

Based on the nature of this thread and what it looks like it is trying to do, I can't say I have any motivation to seek out anything about the guy on my own.

I did watch a bit of that Political Papi video and I see that this isn't just a thought experiment. Presumably this Ben Shapiro guy actually wants to debate Osacio-Cortez. I have to agree with her, though. Why in the world would she? She actually has more important work to do than to promote this guy, because that's all that would be - a bit of self-promotion for him and nothing of value for her.

Oscaio-Cortez is not somebody that can hold her ground in a debate with somebody of Shapiro's caliber. I don't even like more than one of Shapiro's big talking points, but the guy knows his way around an argument and is very capable of voicing his beliefs in an articulate manner

Even if Oscaio-Cortez's ideas were better she couldn't debate them against Shapiro and come out on top. Say what you want about him, but this would be like putting Conor McGregor against George W Bush in a cage match

Its not exactly that his points are super strong, its that he knows how to debate, knows his own points very well and is reasonably articulate.

Ben Shapiro is very good at debating because he talks fast and throws out so much nonsense, half truths, and fallacious arguments that it's hard for a person debating in good faith to keep up with it.

It did before. Clarity wasn't my issue with the second of my posts in this quote. It was the misuse of the word "literally".

EDIT: And then, so I could participate more effectively, I thought I'd watch one of the posted videos about Osacio-Cortez. Stupidly, I started with the one in post #33. That post was a waste of time. If I am being challenged to take the Osacio-Cortez criticisms seriously, that is doing the exact opposite.

They can only pass you their subjective opinions.

For example, when Bernie Sanders is asked, "What is Socialism?"

Democratic-Socialism = The people majority chooses a monopoly

The U.S is a Democratic-Republic because of the same reason when the Founders created its Constitution.

-Republic = Public Law (Which is the U.S Constitution)

Democratic-Republic = The people majority chooses the public law that defends individuality and a free-market (Per what the Constitution does)

Under socialism, the Constitution will be changed, because the Progressives believe that the U.S Constitution is a "Living Document" that changes through the passages of time.
