ARTIST SHOW-OFF #52: Absolute Challenge

Alright, I have been loving the new DC Absolute universe and there reimagining of the DC characters. Your challenge is to take any DC character and redesign them for the new Absolut universe. You can redesign one of the characters that have already been done or pick a new one. Have fun with it. I am excited to see what people come up with. I *ahem* Absolutely loved the choices and changes with Batman and Wonder Woman, really looking forward what they do with Big Blue!

I'm thinking Captain Atom or Firestorm for my entry

Can we submit more than one entry? Having a little trouble pinning down just one Absolute possibility.

You know I am in the same boat so, I am good with entering more than one.

Alright here is my entry. I might do another one as I was having a hell of time deciding between Black Canary and Shazam.

I initially thought about doing someone from the Shazam family as well, but really got swept away with the idea of doing an Absolute Vixen. She will be my first one, once I figure out her outfit. Tempted to dress her as a fellow "sword and sorcery" compatriot of Travis Morgan (The Warlord) and a dimensionally displaced resident of Skartaris. We'll see.

If I finish in time, I'll probably do Shadow Lass, Phantom Girl or Saturn Girl as my second entry. Missing the old Legion of Superheroes comics that I once owned.

I decided to have fun with it and turn my entry in as a one page comic strip, introducing three Absolute versions of familiar characters lol, with my twist anyways. I hope you recognize them.

It's been awhile since I was able to join you guys and have some fun, I think I might revisit this design again some day, but for now, Not as clean as I pictured this in my head, but hope the concept comes through at least. In the tradition of the Absolute Universe, and how things are stacked up against our heroes who have to find new ways to believe in hope, I present the FIRESTORM The Nuclear Man!

Responding to a fire at the residence of Prof Martin Stein, EMS drivers Jason Rusch and Ron Raymond rush to provide assistance to the fallen Prof Stein

While the fires rage on, the EMS workers discover the professor prone on the ground locked inside his lab and containment unit. With precious time and air running out, Ron and Jason were able to reach the professor, but to their surprise, The Professor starts to smoke and emit flames from his head.

Suddenly a violent explosion erupts, the devastation is immediate and extensive, although leaving nothing but a smoldering hole that extended multiple blocks in every direction

Standing at the nexus of the disaster stands a man, or what resembles a man, energy and power is leaking out of the form, his skin resembling slightly cooled lava and blackened rock

Despite the scale of the disaster zone, a lone figure stands among the chaos, but yet 3 voices can be heard arguing

Here's my Absolute Vixen.

The simple backstory is that she never received the amulet, but instead was infected by a para-demon virus at birth, a tragic malady that is almost always fatal. Yet somehow Vixen survived well into adulthood, the only outward signs that she is succumbing to the disease being the scars on her face and the claw-like deformity that has replaced her hand.

Hero or villain? Only time will tell.
