Artist Show-Off Showdown #54: Trip the Light Fantastic (Four)!!!

Howdy folks,

Watching the recent Fantastic Four movie trailer has me hopeful that the movie gods have finally heard our prayers. Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

Option A:

Draw any member of the Fantastic Four (past/present/future/alternate universe/any informal group bearing that name); any member of the Future Foundation; or any villain that has ever dared crossed swords with the Fantastic Four.

Option B:

Draw any character that you'd like to see added to the honored rolls of a Fantastic Four team. Just as Luke Cage, She-Hulk, Medusa and others have joined the fabulous foursome at one point or another, here's your chance to add your spin to the team. This character can come from any media entertainment platform or fictional universe. If you want to draw Sonic the Hedgehog, Lion-O from the Thundercats, or Voltron in a customized Fantastic Four uniform, go for it!

Option C:

Draw a cover, splash page or a few panels of sequential art featuring the Fantastic Four.

The deadline for this Show-Off is Friday, February 28th at 8pm PST. A separate voting thread will be created 24-48 hours after the deadline. If anyone needs an extension, please let me know in advance. Otherwise, no new entries will be permitted once the voting thread is up and running.

@cbishop: You can never go wrong with HERBIE.

LOL, I actually have always despised HERBIE, because of the annoying voice he had in the 80's cartoon, but he was the only one I felt I could do competently in MS Paint. Can I just tell you? That claw was a beeyotch. :)

@cbishop: Ha ha, I hear you. I'm old enough to remember when HERBIE first appeared on the Fantastic Four cartoon back in the 70s. I was so ticked off that they swapped out the Human Torch for him. But I get it: the urban legend was that the TV execs were concerned that showcasing HT would result in a bunch of kids lighting themselves on fire trying to emulate their favorite character, so they went with the "safe" choice in a flying robot.

As for MS Paint, that was my first intro to digital art. I couldn't afford any of the more polished art software back then, so I had to learn early on how to use basic shapes to draw stuff in MS Paint. The trauma never left me...although I still use that and Paint 3D from time to time to finish and tag my work. But I'm so glad that tech companies finally got around to inventing tablets and other devices for us amateur artists.

@magistros: Yeah, I was watching it back then too. I was disappointed there was no Human Torch as well. I mean, I had my matches ready and everything! <eyeroll> lol

Just a quick practice sketch of Ms. Thing. I won't be participating in this challenge but wanted to have some fun with the free trial of Corel drawing software that I downloaded. Think I'll stick to the tablet and leave the Corel for the professionals. Ha ha!
